Every business has six critical elements called Morphemes. Morpheme #1 is The Premise (covered in PhilTakes #16-20). Morpheme #2 - The Promise (PhilTakes #21-25). Morpheme #3 –The Sidelines – refers to limitations external forces put on your business.
PhilTake #27 revisited Volkswagen’s decision to knowingly circumvent EPA testing standards. However, it’s not only large conglomerates that step outside the lines. The former head of Peanut Corporation of America was sentenced to a virtual life sentence for his role in a salmonella outbreak that killed nine and sickened hundreds.
Per prosecutors, Parnell and his co-defendants knowingly shipped salmonella-tainted peanut butter to customers, who in turn used it in products consumed by the public.
Mr. Parnell’s actions stepped outside limitations administered by the Food and Drug Administration, among others, and moral and common sense boundaries.
