PhilTake #38 - The Guidelines, Part 8
Every business has six critical elements called Morphemes. Morpheme #1 is the Premise (covered in PhilTakes #16-20). Morpheme #2 is the Promise (covered in PhilTakes #21-25). In PhilTakes #26-30, we discussed Morpheme #3, Sidelines --restrictions or limitations put on the organization by external forces.
PhilTake #37 introduced a phrase called the Opiate of the Immediate, which is especially prevalent in smaller enterprises. Possible explanations include a lack of working capital, singular decision-making (no board of directors) and a sense of desperation.
Desperate people do desperate things. The more desperate you are, the more mistakes you are apt to make.
And too often these mistakes are the result of operating outside of the Sidelines.
