Have you defined success for your business?
Super Bowl championships are overrated.
The Patriots (10), Steelers (8) and Cowboys (8) own the most Super Bowl appearances, while the Steelers (6), Patriots (5) and Cowboys (5) have won the most championships.
So, who’s the most successful?
It depends on your definition of success.
Based on championships, it’s Pittsburgh. Based on Super Bowl appearances, it’s New England. But financially, it’s Dallas.
According to Forbes, the Cowboys are the most valuable team in sports at $4.8 billion. The Patriots are second in the NFL at $3.7 billion, and the Steelers are top 20 at $2.45 billion.
I don’t know the team owners—Jerry Jones (Cowboys), Robert Kraft (Patriots) or the Rooney family (Steelers)—but I’m sure they (and their respective fan bases) all believe they’re the most successful franchise.
And, all three are correct—based on their definition of success.
