Season 3, Episode #11 (#59) Emily Bates from The Shootouts

Maybe, just maybe. They are on the verge of a breakout. I think so.

The Shootouts; a classic honky tonk band, with a growing fan base comprised of true classic country and an increasing number of rock and blues fans... fans who tell them 'I don't like country music, but I do like what you play".

Why?

Talented musicians, great storytelling lyrics. Sure. But I think it is because they are authentic. That's it. That's it.

Their newest album, Stampede, launches the same day they make their Grand Ole Opry debut on February 24th.

Emily Bates from The Shootouts joins me for a discussion about their Akron roots, their covers of Michael Stanley, Whitney Houston and ELO. And their originals; California to Ohio, Rattlesnake Whiskey, One Step Forward, and Better Things To Do.

And their upcoming tour.

All in the inaugural edition of FreshTakes.
